HoYoverse will release its new action RPG, Zenless Zone Zero, in July for PC, PlayStation 5, and smartphones.
The gaming company has made it known that Zenless Zone Zero is slated for an official release across PC, PlayStation 5, iOS, and Android platforms on July 4. The eagerly awaited action role-playing game, having amassed over 40 million pre-registrations, will support both cross-play and cross-progression upon its launch. Previously, in December, the creators behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail announced their latest free urban fantasy game would be coming in 2024. However, an App Store leak suggested a release date of July 3, 2024, noting the possibility of changes without prior notice before the recent confirmation of its summer debut.
This summer’s launch marks the introduction of the studio’s newest title, which incorporates a gacha system, a feature that encourages players to use in-game currency to obtain rare characters and items. Zenless Zone Zero diverges from the open-world format of Genshin Impact, portraying a post-apocalyptic setting devastated by supernatural phenomena known as "Hollows." The game's epicenter is New Eridu, the sole surviving city, where most interaction with NPCs and preparation for missions takes place.
Players assume the role of a Proxy, a singular survivor charged with salvaging technology from the Ethereals. Zenless Zone Zero touts a compelling combat mechanism that ensures a harmonious mix of simplicity and complexity, populated by diverse characters each bearing unique skills. Distinguishing itself from prior releases like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, the game integrates elements of roguelite into its party dynamics, enhancing its originality and appeal.
Additionally, HoYoverse disclosed that the game’s ultimate closed beta, known as the Amplifying Test, is concluding today, May 28, in anticipation of its summer release.
